«تويتر» يعلن أن عدد مستخدميه يتجاوز 100 مليون شخص

أعلن موقع «تويتر» للتواصل الاجتماعي على شبكة الإنترنت عن تجاوز عدد مستخدميه حاجز 100 مليون شخص في مختلف أنحاء العالم. وبهذه المناسبة يسعى «تويتر» لزيادة عدد اللغات التي يعرض بها خدماته إلى 17 لغة بإضافة اللغات الهندية والفلبينية والماليزية.

وأوضحت إدارة الموقع أن 40% من المستخدمين يحرصون على زيارته فقط لمعرفة أخبار العالم دون نشر تعليقات.

يذكر أن موقع «تويتر» تأسس قبل 5 أعوام، وتتلخص فكرته في تبادل رسائل إلكترونية قصيرة، غالبا ما تدور حول قضايا سياسية، وقد اكتسب شهرة عالمية أثناء الاحتجاجات الشعبية في إيران عام 2009.

ولعب «تويتر» دورًا كبيرًا في حشد التعاطف الدولي مع الكوارث الطبيعية التي تعرضت لها هاييتي وسومطرة وتشيلي ونيوزيلاندا واليابان.

وتعد صفحة المغنية المثيرة للجدل ليدي جاجا، الأكثر متابعة على «تويتر» من جانب أكثر من 13 مليون مستخدم، يليها المغني الشاب جاستين بيبر بـ12.4 مليون مستخدم، ثم الحساب الخاص بالرئيس الأمريكي باراك أوباما بعشرة ملايين مستخدم.

وكان موقع «فيس بوك» المنافس قد أعلن أن عدد مستخدميه جاوز 750 مليون شخص حول العالم منذ أن تأسس عام 2004.
